A birthday and a night out

Hallie turned 3 about 2 weeks ago! I didn't get many pictures of the event but her cake is on my cake blog. I do have a video, which I'll just cross my fingers it works here:

...and it doesn't work.  It's really long anyway, so maybe I'll upload it later... maybe.

We went to Chuck E. Cheese, which I thought Hallie would love. Unfortunately, she couldn't climb up the slide so she found the event more frustrating than exciting. She did love her cake though, and ate the whole thing almost single-handedly. A girl after my own heart.

Adam finished his first CPA test 2 weeks ago! We're still waiting to hear back, but I forced him to take a 2 week break from studying so that he could get re-acquainted with his wife :) We went to the strip last week and ate at the Bellagio Buffet (a perk from work). They had quite the spread! Afterward, we decided to check out the new and AMAZING City Center. It was nothing shy of impressive. Adam and I both appreciate art, in all of it's forms, so we decided to go to Dale Chihuly's art museum.

Then, I BEGGED Adam to go to the Bellagio Bakery with me.  He was pretty easy to convince and we saw some AMAZING cakes.  We actually found a bakery in City Center too, so we got lots of eye candy.  I didn't get a picture of the one cake I loved most, but I'll be back :)  They even had some mini cakes there (if any of you have been following my cake blog lately, you'll see my new love for the little minis)!  There's were smaller than mine though, by a lot, and they were charging $20 a piece for them!  Mine are like 3 times as big and not even $20.  I guess that's what you get when you shop on the Strip.

The $20 Minis (no bigger than your palm)

Minis that are more like the size I do.  Not for sale, though, so I didn't get to compare :(  I don't know, I kind of think mine are cuter anyway (although theirs are more elaborate).  Maybe I'm just biased!

Just a crazy insane-o cake.  I don't even know how you could do a real cake of this without it toppling over.  Mind boggling.

New Blog!!

The past couple of days Adam and I have spent quite a bit of time giving my cake blog a much needed face lift. I'm feeling pretty good about it, but I would LOVE love some feedback. Is there something else I could do to improve it? Something that doesn't read or look quite right? PLEASE let me know!! You all are my best feedback :) Thanks!

Christmas!

This year we went up to Idaho for Christmas. It was wonderful. The weather was a perfect wintery wonderland without being scary. We caroled to an old lady who risked her life to answer the door for us, caroled to the girl at the drive-thru window at dairy queen (who didn't think we were very funny), went swimming at an indoor pool, made lindsey come to New Moon with me, went to the temple, saw a really fun cowboy show/sleigh ride/dinner, had an adorable nativity with Hallie, Tate, and Sydney, had a nice, relaxing Christmas, and Adam even got to watch a little Star Wars on Christmas day. Two days before Christmas, Lindsey had the awesome idea to get some family pictures taken (none of us are planning on having any more children anytime in the too near future, no one is pregnant... so it was good timing). She called up her friend who had just moved into the area and was a photographer, and she agreed to show up the next day, on Christmas Eve even! So we got all our outfits planned in just one day, and got everyone ready for the shoot. I thought the pictures turned out FABULOUS.

Adam would also like to add... BYOBT... unless you can figure that one out too.

More Cake

I've had some new cake creations as of late and I'm also starting a new line of cakes called BabyCakes. I've only got one that I made for a friend's birthday so far, but I should have 2 more by the end of the week. I'm really excited for these new little cakes because they don't take nearly as long to make and I think they're pretty stinkin' cute.

Go here if you want to see it:

I also have this cake that's been sitting in my kitchen for quite a while...

(They're styrofoam dummy tiers. I don't let cake rot in my kitchen just so I can have a pretty cake to look at :) Also, it was made in a rush, so please don't judge any imperfections too harshly!)

And finally, I'll be making 2 BabyCakes and one more regular sized cake for Hallie's birthday this Friday. I've got the smaller cakes all figured out but I still don't know what I'm doing for the bigger cake. If any of you find some pictures of a cute feminine cake, send it my way, I just might make it!
